....Tree house mice and some knitting.....

....Hi there my lovelies, and how are you all....
....firstly i think i need to mention our weather.....its ridiculously humid and sticky here on our south east coast corner of England, with some rather good thunder storms which unfortunately doesn't seem to clear the air at all, in fact all it does is make everything humid sticky and then steamy.........ick.....

....but even though the temperatures are sky high i am still managing to knit up a 'storm'....(no pun intended).....

......Now i don't know exactly why i knitted them, i just think they needed to be knitted....

....Tree house mice....

...( no, i dont know why 'tree house', i mean, do you get mice in tree houses!,,,who knows, but they told me they lived in houses in trees..........who am i to argue!.....anyway.....

....a friendly little 'tree house mouse' that wears a cravat....
( no, i dont know why they wear cravats either.....perhaps it because its cold in tree houses!.....again,,,,who am i to argue !)......

.....knitted in 'jamiesons spindrift yarn', and stuffed lightly...

...the little meese tails are knitted in i'cord, as are the legs...

....and here's another...

....i love these little guys....

....too cute...

.....These little fellas will be making an appearance in my little nook shop soon....

.....so after all the 'tree house mice making' (though there will be more to come), i really felt like i needed to take on a big project, i mean i knit all sorts of little things but  have never actually tackled knitting a garment, and this feels like something i need to do, i think i have always lacked the confidence to take on something bigger in case i make a mash of it, but if i don't try then i will never know....

....so out came one of my favourite knitting books from one of my favourite designers, as i knew in the back of this book there was a lovely cardigan that i have wanted to have a go at....

.....so this is where i am in my knitting at the moment...

....i decided that on my cast on edge i wanted a contrasting colour, to give my cardy a bit of individuality....

....this is the front right panel at the moment...

....and this is half of the back, i have stopped at a hundred rows as this cardy is a long one and i am not sure yet if i want to follow the full length or make it a little shorter, so until i decide i have carefully slid my work onto a circular needle to keep it safe...

....Mabel is most impressed....

....i shall keep you up to date with this venture, and show you how its going, even if all goes horribly wrong i shall still share this little challenge with you, and if you have any tips i would be most happy to hear from you, i am quite excited at (hopefully) having a piece of my own hand knitted clothing to wear,  goodness......if this works out ok, the choices of fantastic knitting patterns will be at my finger tips, perhaps i wont have to buy another knitted thing again........ok, now i am getting way ahead of myself now......''calm down dear.....this is your first cardy''.....one step at a time.....xx

.....see you all soon my dearies, with other makes....

  1. Funnily enough Rachelle over at Ted & Agnes is making the same cardigan so you can follow each other's progress! I've almost finished my socks from the same book - will blog them as soon as sewn up! X

  2. Ooh good for you! I have yet to knit anything bigger than a washcloth. I can knit and purl but don't have a clue as how to fix my mistakes. Good luck on your cardi, it looks great so far!

  5. Adorable mice, so glad Mabel approves. I am sure she will keep an eye on your cardigan. Your knitting looks lovely and even and I love the colour you have chosen. It looks to me like that will be a comfort cardy. Jayne x

  6. Oh, it's addictive! I predict that before long cardigans will be multiplying in your closet like...mice! Your sweater looks very nice so far. Also, the mice are sweet.

  7. I love your Treehouse Meeces! That tail ..... is divine!

And the shade of blue wool you are using is so pretty, I just want to sink into it. Perfect time of year to be knitting I think, if only I knew how! x
